The power of nature to heal and teach.
The power of nature to heal and teach.
We are surrounded by nature’s intelligence at all times. Nature is always there to help and guide us, if we will only take a moment to slow down and listen.
Every culture of man used to be in touch with and honour the spirit of nature on which they totally relied for survival. To early man all nature was sacred and everything worked in balance and harmony.
We often look at early man as being naive and think that we are far superior intellectually. And yes we have made many advances in our society, and most of us do not have to interact with nature to provide our food, clothing and shelter. We have removed ourselves from nature and for centuries have believed that the earth is here for us to do with what we like. We look at earth as a big rock spinning in space and believe that man and maybe dolphins and whales are the only animals with any intelligence.
But what has this isolation and separation cost us? We not only lack connection with the earth, our fellow creatures and plants, but most of us these days don’t even know our neighbours or even ourselves. We are hung up on things with no real meaning like wealth and status symbols. Whereas the important things in life are wellness, deep connection with life and those around us, to love and know ourselves and to learn and grow.
Each aspect of nature can teach us something about ourselves, and we can learn valuable life lessons if only we have the eyes to see. A simple example is a tree is tall and strong, however they have to be flexible in strong winds or they will snap. So the lesson from our friends the trees is to be flexible, don’t be rigid with your ideas and opinions, be willing to listen to others and you might find a better way. By standing firm and refusing to budge you will set up resistance and opposition that could bring you down.
Another example can be seen in my video about sunrise and starting a new day you can view it
Nature also has great power to help us relax and unwind, which is why so many people take weekends away to “get away from it all”. We instinctively know that nature can sooth us and bring us back into balance. A city is full of emotion and thoughts of humans, where as nature is silent and in the moment. There are no thoughts; it is just life as it is happening right now. There is no judgment, no criticism no condemnation. Nature simply accepts us for who we are and embraces us with her silent presence.
Next time you need an answer to a question go outside and go for a walk. Ask for nature to show you the answer or something that will help you find the answer. Then go out keep your eyes and ears open, keep your thoughts still and just see what happens.
